# Cross-Brand Dance Shoe Fit Finder

Dance shoes never match street shoe size, and the offset changes by style and by brand. Tell us your dancer's everyday shoe size and the style you are buying, and we give the starting size in Capezio, Bloch, and So Danca, with the brand quirks and the in-between rounding call. Pointe is fitter-only, and we say so.

This page hosts an interactive tool. Pick who the dancer is, enter their current well-fitting everyday shoe size, choose the style you are buying, and it returns a starting size in each brand we have a verified sizing note for, including which way to round between sizes. The reference below is the same logic in plain text.

## How to use it honestly

- Start from a shoe that fits the dancer well right now, in US sizing. If you are unsure, stand the dancer heel-to-wall on a hard floor and measure to the longest toe, then confirm that street size on a Brannock or a printable size chart.
- Dance shoes are not street shoes. The numbers here are a starting size from each brand's documented behavior, not a guarantee. The brand's own chart for the exact model is the final authority.
- We never claim a dance size equals a street size. We apply the verified per-style and per-brand offset, then send you to the chart to confirm.
- Pointe shoes are fitter-only for a first pair. No tool should size them.

## Ballet slippers

Ballet slippers run 1 to 2 sizes smaller than street shoes. They are meant to fit like a glove with full sole contact.

Rounding: Between two sizes, take the smaller one. A ballet slipper should be snug, not roomy.

### Capezio Daisy 205 leather full-sole

Applies to: Child or youth, Adult, women's sizing, Adult, men's sizing.

Capezio uses its own ballet chart and most beginners land about 1.5 sizes down from street. Confirm on Capezio's chart, not on another brand's.

### Bloch Dansoft S0205 leather full-sole

Applies to: Child or youth, Adult, women's sizing, Adult, men's sizing.

Bloch runs on a different system from Capezio, usually about a size down, and the elastic is pre-attached so there is no drawstring to modify.

Bloch sizes from a medium-width foot. Add half a size for a wide foot.

## Jazz shoes

Jazz shoes run about half a size to a full size smaller than street shoes, but the brand note on the exact model is the real rule.

Rounding: Between two sizes, follow the brand's own recommendation for that model.

### Capezio Freeform slip-on jazz

Applies to: Adult, women's sizing, Adult, men's sizing.

The Freeform runs large. Capezio's own note puts a women's street 7 at about a 5.5, so plan to size down hard and confirm on the product page before you buy.

## Tap shoes

Tap shoes for kids run half a size to a size smaller. Adult tap runs closer to street size or half a size up, because a little break-in volume is normal.

Rounding: Between two sizes, take the larger one. Tap shoes break in and you do not want the toes jammed.

### Capezio Jr. Tyette (child beginner)

Applies to: Child or youth.

The Jr. Tyette is the common first tap shoe, about half a size to a size down from street.

Runs narrow. Capezio says so on the product page. A wide-footed kid needs a different shoe, not a bigger Tyette.

## Character shoes

Character shoes sit closest to street size of any dance shoe, but the offset swings hard by brand, so read the costume sheet and the brand note together.

Rounding: Between two sizes, follow the brand note for that model. Heel shoes are less forgiving when too big.

### Capezio Jr. Footlight (1.5 inch T-strap)

Applies to: Child or youth, Adult, women's sizing, Adult, men's sizing.

Capezio's own guidance: women size up half, men size up 2.5 from street. The kids' Footlight tracks close to street, size up half if between.

### Bloch Splitflex (2.5 inch T-bar)

## Pointe shoes

Pointe shoes are never ordered online for a first pair. A trained fitter sizes them to the individual foot, arch, and technique.

Never ordered online for a first pair. A trained fitter sizes pointe shoes to the individual foot, arch, and technique. Reordering a known model and size online is fine once a fitter has set it.
