# Hidden-Cost Dance Season Planner

See the real cost of a dance season laid out month by month, not just the tuition. Enter what your studio charges for registration, costumes, recital, and competitions, and we build a cash-flow timeline that shows exactly which months spike and what the full-season total comes to, so the spring bills are on your calendar in the fall. We never invent a studio's fees, and the recreational track is honest that you do not need the competition extras.

This page hosts an interactive planner. Pick the recreational or competitive track, enter your studio's own fees (monthly tuition, registration, costume fee per routine, recital fee and extras, and for the competitive track the entry fee per routine and how many events), and it spreads every cost across the season into a month-by-month timeline. The reference below explains what each line is and when it usually lands.

## The line items, and when they hit

Tuition is the steady monthly line and the one parents already budget. The costs that blindside families are the clustered ones below. We do not publish what any studio charges, because it varies widely. Ask your studio in writing and enter the real numbers.

Registration: a one-time fee at the start of the season.
Costume fees: charged per routine, usually a few months into the season when the studio locks in the order. A dancer in three routines pays three costume fees.
Recital fee and extras: a participation fee near the end of the season, plus tickets, photos, video, and flowers during show week. The extras are easy to forget and add up fast.
Competition entries (competitive track): an entry fee per routine, charged again at every event. This is the line that scales fastest as a dancer adds dances.
Gear: starter shoes and tights at the start, plus a mid-season shoe replacement because a growing dancer outgrows a size or two in a year.

## Gear estimate, grounded

When you include gear, we budget about $38 for a starter leather or canvas shoe, $15 a pair for tights with one backup, and one $38 replacement mid-season. Size each piece exactly in our shoe fit finder and treat the brand's own price as final.
